How does OTP-based payment work with the Pluxee payments at merchant outlets?

3 min to read

OTP-based payment is a secure way for Pluxee cardholders to transact at Pluxee-affiliated merchants, especially in environments without an Electronic Data Capture (EDC) machine.

Here’s how it works:

  1. At the billing counter of a Pluxee merchant outlet, the cashier selects the OTP payment option (available for merchants who have integrated Pluxee’s APIs).
  2. The cashier enters the consumer’s registered mobile number linked to their Pluxee Meal Card or Multi-Benefit Pass.
  3. The consumer receives a one-time password (OTP) via SMS from Pluxee, which they share at the billing counter.
  4. The cashier enters the OTP in the system, and the Pluxee payment is processed successfully.

This method is widely used at Pluxee-accepted stores such as restaurants, supermarkets, and retail outlets that are part of the Pluxee merchant list in India.
